DUOACHIEVEMENTS
Xbox achievements: frequently asked questions
Everything players ask us about Gamerscore, achievement unlocks and rarity — plus how Duo Achievements turns that history into matches with other Xbox players.
What are Xbox achievements?
Achievements are in-game milestones tracked by Xbox Live. Each one is worth a set number of Gamerscore points and is permanently recorded on your gamertag, along with the date and time you unlocked it. Anyone who views your Xbox profile can see the total.
How does Gamerscore work?
Gamerscore is the sum of every achievement you have ever unlocked across every game. Most full retail games award 1,000 Gamerscore in the base game, with extra points added by downloadable content. Gamerscore never goes down, and there is no cap — long-time players sit in the millions.
Why didn't my achievement unlock?
The three usual causes are an offline session that has not yet synced, a requirement you met only partly (some achievements need conditions in a single run), or a known game bug. Sign in while online and relaunch the game to let Xbox Live push the pending unlock. If it still doesn't appear, the achievement is usually tied to progress the game didn't record.
What counts as a rare achievement?
Xbox shows a rarity percentage: the share of players who own the game and have unlocked that achievement. Under 10% is generally treated as rare, and under 1% as ultra rare. Rarity moves over time as more people play the game, so an achievement that was rare at launch can become common later.
How do I boost my Gamerscore quickly?
Play games with short, generously scored achievement lists, finish base games before chasing downloadable content, and clear the achievements you are already close to before starting something new. Playing alongside someone with the same target is the fastest route on co-op and multiplayer lists, which is exactly what DuoAchievements is built for.
Can I see which achievements I unlocked most recently?
Yes. Your Xbox profile keeps unlocks in reverse order by unlock time. DuoAchievements pulls the same data once you connect your Xbox account and shows your recent wins, your last five games, and the Gamerscore earned in each session.
How does DuoAchievements use my achievements?
We read your gamertag, Gamerscore, achievement history and recently played games from Xbox Live and use them to match you with players chasing similar lists. Your Gamerscore also drives your in-app level and XP. You can disconnect your Xbox account at any time, which clears the cached data.
Do achievements sync automatically?
They do. We refresh your achievements and recently played games on a schedule and again each time you open the app, and you can force a sync yourself with the sync button on your profile.
